Pastor Richard James, Sr. is a man that truly loves The Lord. Pastor James loves, respects and admires his family; guides, teaches and loves his church family; has deep concerns and actively engaged in helping the less fortunate. Pastor James is one of God’s chosen ones, and we are blessed that the choice was given to him to serve unto them; God’s people the holy word at St. John Baptist Church, 1315 Springhill Road, Camden, South Carolina.

Pastor Richard James, Sr.

Pastor James delivered his first sermon as Pastor-Elect to the parishioners

of St. John on Sunday morning, April 2, 2000. at 11:15 a.m. Installation Service as Pastor was held on Sunday afternoon, June 25, 2000 at 5:00 p.m.

 

Pastor James was called into the ministry in 1996. He was ordained on June 13, 1999 at Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church in Rembert, South Carolina. Pastor Richard James, Sr. was born and reared in Sumter, South Carolina to his parents the late Mr. Ben and the late Deloris James.

 

He is a high school graduate; has earned a Bachelor of Science degree and a Masters’ Degree in Divinity.  He has further his studies with a PhD in Divinity and Counseling.

 

 

Leadership

Under his leadership, a Male, Inspirational and Mass Choirs were organized. Also, a Praise Team was organized to accompany the Deacons Ministry during morning Sunday devotional service. The fellowship hall was enlarged with the addition of a new kitchen and pastor study. The church office was moved and three additional Sunday school classrooms were added including a finance office. The church family dedicated the new addition to the church to the Lord on Saturday afternoon, May 10, 2003 at 1:00 p.m.   Refreshments were served.
